Everything about Rachel and Andy’s winter wedding at Virginia Park Lodge was just beautiful. It was one of those weddings that reminded me of how much I love capturing them…. but more on that in a minute.
I first met Rachel more than a year before the wedding itself in her Auntie’s house, and I immediately felt part of her day. I love how, that even living in England and really having her pick of venues, that Rachel wanted to celebrate and continue the link to her parents and her roots in Ireland. The church she had her ceremony in Oldcastle Co.Meath, where her parents were from originally and then picking the beautiful Virginia Park Lodge for her reception where her parents had their honeymoon. This brings me back to why a wedding day is so special…FAMILY! Yes getting amazing shots is awesome, and I love that element of the day too, don’t get me wrong, capturing that connection between a couple on their own, but it really is about family and the joy and tears of celebrating that! Family was part of every element in this wedding, the church ceremony, the venue, the flowers, the cousin helping carry Rachel over mud!(the lake shots wouldn’t have happened without you!), her dad’s speech and singing (not a dry eye in the house, including mine!) and the recreated cousins photo! The list goes on! Give me these connections and moments any day, every day, because these are what matters the most!….As well as having amazing bridal hair like Rachel did!;-)
Even as I look back on these photos, I can’t help but smile!
